A Ghanaian social enterprise creating dignified, stable work through ethical shea production in Northern Ghana.
Empowerment is more than income.
The Experience Tribe was founded to address unemployment, the stigma surrounding Neglected Tropical Diseases, and economic exclusion in Northern Ghana. These are not separate problems. They compound one another, and they fall hardest on women, on young people leaving school without a trade, on persons with disabilities, and on anyone whose illness has marked them in the eyes of an employer.
Shea offered an obvious starting point. The trees grow across the region, the knowledge of how to work the nut is already held by women in these communities, and the finished butter has a market well beyond Ghana. What was missing was the bridge between the two: consistent quality, reliable volume, proper packaging, and someone to carry the product to buyers.
By combining traditional shea butter production with modern market access, we create products that tell a story of resilience and transformation. Every jar is the output of a supply chain we can account for, from the women who gather the nuts to the person who seals the lid.
It is dignity, mental wellbeing, inclusion, and opportunity.
Our mission

To create sustainable economic growth, improve mental health and wellbeing, and empower women, youth, persons with disabilities, and individuals affected by NTDs through entrepreneurship and skills development.
Wellbeing sits in that sentence deliberately. Steady work changes how people are seen by their community and how they see themselves, and that shift matters as much to us as the income does.

A Northern Ghana where marginalized communities thrive economically and socially, without stigma attached to disability or to Neglected Tropical Diseases.
We measure progress against that by a simple test: whether the people we work with are still earning, still building skills, and still included, after our particular programme has moved on.
